The Ramadan lecture served as a platform for soul-searching, spiritual rejuvenation, and a call to righteousness among Muslims in the council area.
In his opening remarks, Hon. Akinloye emphasized the importance of prioritizing Islam, especially during Ramadan, which he described as a season of forgiveness, mercy, and divine blessings.
“This is a period when Almighty Allah forgives,” Hon. Akinloye said. “We must take gatherings like this seriously. It is a time to reflect, amend our ways, and reconnect with Allah.
Life is fleeting, and only through God’s mercy can we attain true peace. Let us strive to live in obedience to His will.”
The guest lecturer, Zafaran Adeniyi Omotope, Director of Vanguard Academy, Odoshegolu, delivered a powerful message on the essence of living a life rooted in Islamic values.
He challenged attendees to practice the knowledge they have gained from Islamic teachings rather than merely listening without application.
“Islam is not just about acquiring knowledge but living by it,” Zafaran Adeniyi said. “Every soul will account for its deeds. Fear Allah in everything you do, so you do not go astray.
The influence of social media today is corrupting many; people have abandoned reading the Quran for watching ungodly content on their phones.”
He condemned the increasing moral decline caused by digital distractions, warning that many have lost their dignity and spiritual direction due to misuse of technology.
“No man owns anything on this earth,” he said. “All that we have is from Allah, and we will leave them behind when death comes.
How prepared are we to return to our Creator? We must live with the consciousness of the hereafter and avoid being consumed by temporary pleasures.”
Zafaran further urged the audience to think beyond their present situations and focus on eternity.
“We all came from Allah, and to Him, we shall return. One day, we will close our eyes and never open them again. What are we doing to ensure we return peacefully to Allah?”
The lecture ended with fervent prayers for personal and communal progress, peace in Eredo LCDA, and divine guidance during the holy month.
Speaking with reporters, Alhaja Ramota Sanni, a staff of the council, praised the organizers for the timely event.
