Former Labour Party (LP) senatorial candidate for Lagos West in 2023, Moshood Salvador, has officially defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), declaring that the LP holds no future in Nigeria’s political landscape.
Salvador, a former Lagos PDP Chairman and ex-chieftain of the APC, made the announcement on Saturday during the 25th anniversary celebration of his political group, Conscience Forum, in Surulere.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that explaining the decision, Salvador said the move followed a critical review of the forum’s achievements and future prospects. According to him, the ADC provides a more viable coalition platform for progress.
“Labour Party has no future, hence the decision to move. We have resolved to join ADC as the symbol of a new coalition that will give Nigerians hope,” Salvador stated.
He revealed that Conscience Forum, with over 400,000 members across Lagos, would join the ADC en masse, carrying along its full political structure.
“The decision was unanimously endorsed by the forum’s state executives. We are entering ADC fully prepared, with our members and structures intact,” he added.
Receiving Salvador and his supporters, ADC National Secretary and former Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, described the defection as a major boost for the party ahead of future elections. He urged Nigerians to embrace the ADC as an alternative, stressing that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) had failed in governance.
“APC has failed Nigerians in every sector. What we need now is a political movement that prioritises people’s welfare above personal interest. ADC is that party, and we are building a people-friendly government,” Aregbesola said.
ADC’s Lagos Organising Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Ogidi, also welcomed the mass defection, noting that it had strengthened the party’s chances in the state.
“We welcome all Nigerians regardless of religion or ethnicity. ADC is the true home for those who believe in fairness and justice,” he remarked.

Similarly, Chief John Uche, former President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Lagos, pledged the support of the Igbo community for the ADC, saying the time had come to rally behind a credible political platform.
“This is the time to rally behind a credible political platform. Ndigbo in Lagos are ready to work with ADC to achieve success,” Uche said.
