Fatal Bus Crash Kills Female Corps Member on Journey to Ebonyi NYSC Camp

- A female prospective NYSC corps member died in a bus accident on the way to the Ebonyi orientation camp.
- The bus, carrying 12 corps members, crashed into a parked truck, injuring several others.
- The victims were rescued and taken to the hospital, but the NYSC coordinator was too shaken to comment.
A tragic accident claimed the life of a female prospective corps member on her way to the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp in Afikpo North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
The incident occurred when a 14-seater bus, carrying 12 prospective corps members, lost control and crashed into a parked truck.

The deceased, whose identity has not been confirmed, died from injuries sustained in the crash.
Other passengers, including fellow corps members, were injured and rushed to the David Umahi Federal University of Health Sciences (DUFUHS) for treatment.
The victims were en route from Enugu to the NYSC orientation camp in Afikpo for their three-week training under the 2024 Batch C Stream II program.
According to eyewitnesses, the bus veered off course and collided with a stationary Mercedes-Benz tipper truck on the Amasiri-Okiigwe road, near Okposi, around 2:00 PM.
Ebonyi State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Igwe Henry, confirmed the accident but said he did not have casualty details, as victims had been rescued before his officers arrived. “The victims were rescued before our team got to the scene,” he stated.

Ebonyi State NYSC Coordinator, Foluke Oladeinde, expressed her shock at the news but refrained from commenting further as she was at the hospital attending to the victims.
