Earlier, bandits had attacked a police base in the village, killing two policemen and a vigilante. After the bandits left, the military jet arrived, circled the area, and then struck the huts, according to a resident, Muntari Sada.
Six members of one family were killed. Their remains had to be gathered in bags for burial, Sada said. Two other residents confirmed this.

Amnesty International, however, said 10 people died and called for a fair and urgent investigation.
The military has not responded to AFP’s request for comment.
For years, Nigeria’s military has been fighting criminal gangs that attack villages, kill or kidnap people for ransom, and burn homes after looting them.
This is not the first time the army has mistakenly bombed civilians.
In January, a military airstrike in Zamfara state killed at least 16 people after mistaking local vigilantes for criminals.
In December, a jet killed 10 people and injured six in Sokoto state while targeting jihadist fighters.
Also in December 2023, the army mistakenly bombed a Muslim religious gathering in Kaduna state, killing at least 85 people, including women and children.
