Former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose has alleged that Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde may be making plans that could lead to the removal of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rahidi Adewolu Ladoja.
Eko Hot Blog reports that Fayose shared this claim on Sunday via his account on 𝕏, where he suggested that the process might begin with formal action taken against the monarch.

According to him, this could involve issuing an official query over the monarch’s reported absence from a recent coronation ceremony in Ibadan.

He further claimed that the move could unfold within the week, with the alleged query linked to the Olubadan’s non-attendance at the installation of certain high chiefs held about two weeks ago, alongside other unspecified accusations.
In the same post, Fayose criticised Makinde, using the term “sigidi,” a Yoruba expression often used to describe a carved figure, implying disapproval of the governor’s actions.
The allegation comes amid ongoing rumours suggesting tension between the Oyo State Government and the traditional institution in Ibadan.
However, the Olubadan Palace has firmly denied any such disagreement. In a statement, palace representatives described the reports as untrue and misleading, maintaining that there is no conflict between the monarch and the state government.

The palace also addressed the issue of the coronation event, explaining that the Olubadan did not deliberately stay away. It noted that he remains in Ibadan, is in good health, and continues to fulfil his responsibilities.
