EKO HOT BLOG reports that Fayose, the younger brother of former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, held a closed-door meeting on Friday with the National Secretary of ADC, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola. The meeting, which took place in Abuja, comes amid speculation that he is preparing to run for the 2026 governorship election under a new platform.
A politician from Ekiti, who confirmed the development to Leadership but preferred anonymity, disclosed that Fayose is already in advanced talks to align with the ADC. According to the source, Aregbesola encouraged Fayose to “join ADC without further delay,” describing the party as an open platform for strong grassroots leaders ready to build credible alternatives to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the PDP.
Fayose had earlier released a video announcing his resignation from the PDP, where he accused the party’s leadership of compromise and betrayal. He described the PDP as a “stooge for the ruling APC,” and alleged that the party’s forthcoming primaries in Ekiti State had already been manipulated.
“The party’s forthcoming primaries in Ekiti have already been compromised. Any candidate produced through such a process may not even be recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC),” he said at a press conference in Abuja.
Fayose maintained that his aspiration to serve the people of Ekiti could no longer be pursued under the PDP. He added that his political movement, along with his supporters, would only align with a party that offers fairness, internal democracy, and credibility.
