Federal employees have been instructed to disregard an email from Elon Musk demanding weekly accomplishment reports, multiple agencies confirmed.
Eko Hot Blog reports that, Musk, recently appointed by President Donald Trump to oversee government job cuts and spending, sent the request via the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) on Saturday.

However, several federal agencies, including the FBI, FEMA, IRS, NOAA, CDC, and the Department of Energy, have advised staff not to comply until further guidance is issued.
FBI Director Kash Patel, in an internal email quoted by The Mirror US, told personnel to hold off on responding: “The FBI… will conduct reviews in accordance with FBI procedures. For now, please pause any responses.”

Similarly, Ambassador Tibor P. Nagy assured State Department employees that they were under no obligation to report their activities outside their department’s chain of command.
Rear Adm. Chad Cary of NOAA said the email “came as a surprise” and that the agency was seeking clarification. Other agencies, such as the IRS and CDC, have also instructed employees to wait for further instructions.
