FCDA Issues Notice Of Nnamdi Expressway Shutdown: Plan Your Route Ahead

  • The FCDA has announced the shutdown of the Nnamdi Expressway carriageway and the Area 1 roundabout to enable the continuation of construction on the interchange.

  • The main carriageways and service lanes on the expressway will be shut down between 7 am and 6 pm on Saturday the 23rd and Sunday the 24th of April 2023.

  • Residents and motorists are advised to comply with the announcements and directives of the agents charged with maintaining law and order on the roads.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Management of the Federal Capital Development Authority has announced the shutdown of the Nnamdi Expressway carriageway and the Area 1 roundabout in the territory to enable the continuation of construction on the Interchange.

In a notification message on Friday, the FCDA said the main carriageways and service lanes on the Nnamdi Azikiwe Expressway, at the Area 1 roundabout, coming from the Airport, and vice versa, will be shut down between 7 am and 6 pm on Saturday the 23rd and Sunday the 24th of April 2023.

The Agency stated that the shutdown would result in the closure of the roads to all incoming traffic on, while urging residents and motorists, to follow the alternative route provided by the contractor.

The message also stated that officers of the FCT Vehicle Inspection Office, the Police, and the Federal Road Safety Corps, had been informed of the arrangement, and will be on the ground to assist with traffic control at the roundabout and associated ramps.
