The Federal Fire Service (FFS) has urged Nigerians to call for help during emergencies rather than filming the incident.
In a post on its X handle, Eko Hot Blog reports that the agency highlighted a common trend where citizens quickly grab their phones to record a crisis, such as a car on fire, instead of taking the urgent action of calling for help.

The FFS’s direct message to the public is clear: “Don’t film, call for help!”. The service stated that “recording will not save lives, action will.”
The FFS wants citizens to “be a hero, not a bystander” and reminds them that one single call can make all the difference.
The agency provided a phone number, 08032003557, and encouraged all Nigerians to call them first in the event of a fire.
