Bichi explained that the initiative is a key part of President Bola Tinubu’s administration’s commitment to ending recurring power outages in critical sectors, especially healthcare and education.
He revealed that the idea for the project came from appeals from Chief Medical Directors of teaching hospitals, who highlighted the crippling cost of power. Some hospitals were spending as much as N200 million monthly on electricity and diesel.

The N300 billion will fund the installation of renewable energy systems. Bichi stated that these projects would guarantee uninterrupted power, which is essential for doctors to save lives and for students to study without disruption.
The move will also reduce high electricity bills, improve overall efficiency, and promote the use of clean energy.
The Energy Commission of Nigeria will collaborate with other relevant agencies to ensure the timely and successful delivery of the projects.
Bichi also praised Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, for his leadership in making the government’s vision a reality.
