EKO HOT BLOG gathers that earlier reports had alleged that an airstrike targeting the Lakurawa terrorist group resulted in the bombing of Gidan Sama and Rumtuwa, two communities in the Silame Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

According to the said report,  the incident occurred around 7 AM on Wednesday, with residents claiming over ten villagers were killed and several others injured.

Malam Yahya, a resident of Silame, explained that the affected villages are close to Surame Forest, known as a hideout for the Lakurawa group and bandits. A local source added that the airstrike caused significant damage, affecting numerous lives and properties.

The chairman of Silame Local Government Area, Alhaji Abubakar Muhammad Daftarana, confirmed the occurrence of the attack noting that an assessment of the damage was underway but refrained from attributing the incident to a military operation.
