EKO HOT BLOG reports that the curfew, which takes immediate effect, was announced on Saturday in a statement by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou, in Yola, the state capital.
According to the statement, the government’s decision was prompted by what it described as “recent violent attacks and breaches of peace” in Lamurde, a situation that has sparked concerns about public safety and the risk of further escalation.
“The government views these disturbances as unacceptable and has directed security agencies to enforce the curfew strictly,” Wonosikou said.
He warned that any individual or group found flouting the curfew would be arrested and prosecuted in line with existing laws. Security operatives have been placed on high alert, with a clear mandate to restore law and order in the troubled area.
Governor Fintiri called on residents to cooperate fully with law enforcement agents and refrain from engaging in or promoting any activities capable of worsening the tension. He also urged the public to avoid spreading false information, which could further inflame the situation.
“Residents are urged to abide by the curfew and provide useful information to security agencies to ensure peaceful coexistence,” the statement added.

The governor reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property, insisting that acts of violence will not be tolerated under any guise.
While the government did not specify the exact nature of the disturbances, Naija News gathered that there have been recent episodes of unrest in Lamurde, prompting the urgent intervention.
