EKO HOT BLOG reports that Dr. Brown commended the quick intervention of firefighters, noting that their prompt response helped prevent the fire from spreading to other sections of the building.
She said both the state and federal fire services, alongside the military, collaborated in extinguishing the flames.
According to her, “The fire has been contained. Other partners to the state, including the Federal Fire Service and the military, deployed their trucks. It was a combined effort, and we thank His Excellency for being proactive in rehabilitating the state fire service before now; otherwise, the situation would have been worse.”
Dr. Brown explained that preliminary findings revealed an electrical fault as the cause of the fire, adding that no medical emergencies or casualties were recorded.

She also used the opportunity to advise civil servants to be more safety-conscious by ensuring that all electrical appliances are properly switched off before leaving their offices at the end of each day.
The section affected by the fire reportedly houses the Rivers State Pension Board.
