Lagos State First Lady, Dr. (Mrs.) Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, on Saturday, led an energetic gathering of women leaders and government officials for the 25th edition of the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO) Pre-Conference Wellness Walk held in Ikorodu, Lagos East Senatorial District.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the symbolic walk, which promotes fitness, unity, and community engagement among women in leadership, witnessed the participation of over 470 women, including the wife of the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Oluremi Hamzat, and other COWLSO members from across the state.
The event was graciously hosted by Mrs. Feyisola Abiru, wife of Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, FCA, who represents Lagos East Senatorial District. Mrs. Abiru, who also leads COWLSO activities in the district, mobilized participants from the five councils in the Ikorodu Division to warmly receive the First Lady and her entourage.

As part of the day’s engagements, the First Lady visited the SAIL Innovation Lab, a digital innovation hub established by Senator Abiru and his wife through the SAIL Empowerment Foundation.
The facility, situated in Ikorodu, provides free training in technology, career development, and entrepreneurship to hundreds of young people within Lagos East, helping them gain 21st-century digital skills.
Deeply impressed by what she saw, Dr. Sanwo-Olu commended the Abirus for their foresight and dedication to youth empowerment.
“I am genuinely inspired by the transformation happening here,” she said. “What Senator Abiru and his wife are doing through SAIL Innovation Lab is truly phenomenal.
This center is empowering our youths, shaping their future, and securing a better tomorrow for our communities.”
She further encouraged beneficiaries of the program to seize the opportunity, emphasizing the government’s commitment to fostering youth development and innovation.
The COWLSO team also visited the Industrial Development Centre of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) and paid homage to Mrs. Oluwagbemiga Olabisi Benson, the pioneer Executive Chairman of the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LASUBEB).
Expressing appreciation, Mrs. Feyisola Abiru thanked the First Lady and the Lagos State Government for their continuous support toward women’s advancement and family welfare.
“Your Excellency, we deeply appreciate your unwavering support and compassionate leadership,” she stated.
“The progress being recorded across the state under the dynamic leadership of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu is truly commendable.
The THEMES+ agenda aligns perfectly with the Renewed Hope vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and our mother, the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.”
The COWLSO Pre-Conference Walk serves as a prelude to the organization’s annual National Women’s Conference, designed to promote health consciousness, camaraderie, and civic engagement among women leaders in Lagos State.
