Peseiro takes over from Christian Gross, a former Tottenham Hotspur manager, who was recently dismissed following a string of poor performances. The club, which has won the Egyptian league title 14 times, hopes that Peseiro’s experience will help improve their form and bring success.
As part of his contract, Zamalek will pay Peseiro a monthly salary of $75,000 until the end of the current season. However, if he remains in charge for the next season, his salary will be increased to $85,000 per month.

The 64-year-old coach is no stranger to Egyptian football. In the past, he managed Al Ahly, Zamalek’s biggest rivals, making this appointment even more interesting. Fans will be eager to see how he performs, especially given the fierce competition between the two clubs.
Peseiro is also well-known for his time as head coach of the Nigerian national team, where he guided the Super Eagles to a second-place finish at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Côte d’Ivoire. His leadership during the tournament earned him recognition, and Zamalek will be hoping he can bring the same level of success to their team.
