The Al Nassr striker, who turns 40 on Wednesday, did not shy away from declaring his own greatness.
“I believe I am the best player in football history—no one has been better,” he stated confidently. “The numbers say I am the most complete footballer that has ever existed. People can like Messi, Maradona, Pele… and I respect that, but I am the most complex, and the numbers say that.”
Ronaldo, who has won five Ballon d’Or titles and scored an astonishing 923 competitive goals, highlighted his all-around abilities.
“I’m fast, strong, I score goals with my head or my left foot—no one has ever been more complete than me. I am the best player in history. I really believe that.”
Reflecting on his early career, Ronaldo admitted that he could have joined Barcelona before making the move to Manchester United.
“They tried to get me when I was at Sporting. They wanted me, but a year later, Manchester United came along,” he revealed.
During his legendary spell at Real Madrid, Ronaldo’s rivalry with Lionel Messi at Barcelona became one of football’s most captivating duels.
