Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has dissolved the State Executive Council in what observers describe as a major step toward resetting his administration amid the lingering political crisis in the state.
Eko Hot Blog gatherd that the decision followed reports that the governor was considering a cabinet shake-up as part of a renewed peace arrangement aimed at resolving tensions within the state’s political structure.

In a statement issued by his newly appointed Chief Press Secretary, Onwuka Nzeshi, the governor confirmed the dissolution and directed all commissioners and special advisers to immediately hand over to their respective permanent secretaries or the most senior officials in their ministries.
Fubara also expressed appreciation to the outgoing cabinet members for their service and wished them well in their future pursuits.

The cabinet overhaul came shortly after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu hosted Fubara, Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, and other Rivers stakeholders at the Presidential Villa in Abuja in an effort to restore stability in the state. The meeting marked another intervention by the president following earlier efforts to calm the crisis.
Sources indicated that the governor has resolved to implement key aspects of the peace understanding reached in Abuja, including reconstituting his cabinet. The move is seen as part of efforts to ease hostilities between him and Wike, whose allies in the State House of Assembly have been at the centre of the political standoff.

It is expected that Fubara will forward a fresh list of commissioner nominees to the Assembly, led by Speaker Martin Amaewhule, for screening and confirmation. Discussions between the executive and lawmakers are reportedly underway to finalise the proposed nominees before formal submission.
Insiders suggest that if the new arrangement holds, the Assembly may, in turn, halt impeachment proceedings earlier initiated against the governor and his deputy.
The development signals a potential turning point in Rivers’ politics, as both sides appear to be taking steps toward reconciliation and administrative stability.
