The political crisis in Rivers State has taken a new twist as Governor Siminalayi Fubara has invited the Amaewhule-led members of the State House of Assembly to a crucial meeting.
The invitation was conveyed in a letter signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Tammy Danagogo, and issued in Port Harcourt on Sunday.
Addressed to the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Martin Amaewhule, the letter, titled “Meeting Between the Governor of Rivers State and the Honourable Members of the Rivers State House of Assembly,” outlined key issues for discussion.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that according to the letter, the meeting, scheduled for Monday, March 10, 2025, at the Government House, Port Harcourt, follows the Governor’s receipt of the Certified True Copy of the Supreme Court judgment.
Among the key matters to be discussed are the provision of a suitable venue for the lawmakers’ sittings, the presentation of the 2025 budget, and the payment of all outstanding allowances and remuneration of the Assembly members.
Danagogo’s statement read:
“I hereby write, in furtherance of His Excellency’s promise stated in my letter dated March 5, 2025, to notify you that His Excellency has received the Supreme Court judgment and has, therefore, directed me to invite you and your colleagues to a meeting to discuss:
- Provision of a befitting space for the Assembly’s sittings.
- Payment of all outstanding remuneration or allowances of the Honourable members.
- Presentation of the 2025 budget and other relevant matters necessary to chart the way forward in the interest of the State.

The statement emphasized the importance of the meeting in fostering stability and governance in Rivers State.
This latest move comes amid growing tensions between Governor Fubara and lawmakers loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
The meeting is expected to be a decisive moment in the ongoing power struggle within the state’s political structure.
