- Renowned filmmaker and actress Funke Akindele has transitioned to attending church services online to avoid distractions.
- Akindele cited the constant focus of photographers and media teams on her during physical services as the primary reason for her decision.
- While she no longer attends in person, she continues to prepare her children for physical services before joining her own worship session digitally.
Nollywood star Funke Akindele has revealed that she has stopped attending physical church services due to the persistent media attention she receives while trying to worship.
Eko Hot Blog reports that in a video shared on her Snapchat on Sunday, the actress explained that whenever she attends a service in person, cameras and photographers often focus exclusively on her, making it difficult to maintain a personal connection with her faith without distraction.

Akindele, who is a member of the Celestial Church of Christ, noted that the constant attention from both congregants and official media teams interferes significantly with her worship experience.
“Do not ask if I am going to church. I am not going to church. Anytime I go to church, it is me that they take picture of. I will join online,” she stated while preparing breakfast for her children.

Despite her personal shift to virtual worship, Akindele remains committed to her children’s religious upbringing, ensuring they are ready for their own physical church attendance before she logs on to join her service remotely.
This move allows the filmmaker to participate in her communal faith traditions while maintaining the privacy she feels is necessary for a meaningful spiritual experience.
