In a stunning revelation, Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia has accused serving politicians in the National Assembly of sponsoring the recent spate of attacks in the state, deeming such actions “unacceptable.”
Eko Hot Blog reports that during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Governor Alia made the accusations without naming specific individuals.

He mentioned that an interim report from a judicial panel he established has implicated several high-profile figures in the attacks, vowing to take swift action upon receiving the full report next week.

Recall that on Sunday, June 1, suspected Islamist gunmen unleashed terror on two predominantly Christian communities in Benue State, leaving at least 43 people dead.
The attacks occurred in Gwer West and Apa Local Government Areas, which have a combined Christian population of 98%.
In the Apa LGA, more than 25 people were shot and killed in Edikwu Ankpati at around 7 p.m. The tragic loss of life has left the communities reeling, as they grapple with the devastation and fear in the aftermath of the violence.
