Six persons were killed in Tunga-Makeri, while 26 others were reported dead in Konkoso. Casualties in Pissa are still being verified.
Eyewitnesses said several residents were abducted during the attacks. Some villagers fled into the bush to escape the gunmen.
Local sources said the attackers arrived on motorcycles and moved quickly through the villages. Houses were damaged and residents reported hearing gunshots for several minutes before the attackers left.
Residents said the attack occurred before dawn and caught the villages by surprise. Some villagers ran to neighbouring communities while others hid in nearby forests.
Security operatives, including police and local vigilantes, were deployed to the affected communities. Investigations are ongoing as authorities attempt to identify the attackers and prevent further incidents.
Local officials said casualty figures are still being confirmed. Search operations continue for those reported missing.
Authorities have advised residents in surrounding areas to remain alert. Patrols have been increased in nearby towns and villages to prevent additional attacks.
The attacks are part of a series of security incidents in north-central Nigeria. In recent months, rural communities in Niger State and neighbouring states have been targeted by armed groups. The incidents include killings, kidnappings, and raids on homes.
Residents said the attacks caused panic and fear in the villages. Families are attempting to account for missing members while local authorities coordinate with security operatives to restore calm.
Villagers described the attackers as heavily armed and moving in groups. The raids lasted for several minutes, leaving behind destruction and casualties.
Additionally, the security agencies are continuing investigations and have deployed additional forces to prevent further violence.
Authorities are gathering information from eyewitnesses and local sources to determine the full extent of the attack.
