According to local sources, the heavily armed attackers descended upon the village shooting sporadically, creating widespread panic as residents scrambled for safety.
Intelligence gathered from the scene revealed that the criminal gang was intentionally tracking a prominent Fulani leader in the area, identified as an Ardo or Seriki Fulani.
Upon failing to locate their primary target, the gunmen forcefully abducted his two wives, aged 25 and 35, before fleeing the settlement. During the chaotic raid, one male resident was fatally shot by the attackers.
Confirming the incident, the Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo, stated that the command’s preliminary findings aligned with reports that the Fulani leader was the main target of the ambush.
He disclosed that military personnel and emergency security teams rushed to the area following urgent distress calls from the villagers.

Troops successfully engaged the bandits in a fierce firefight, repelling the onslaught and forcing the criminals to retreat deep into the surrounding wilderness.
Commissioner Ojo assured the public that a combined team of security forces remains on the trail of the fleeing suspects to rescue the abducted women and bring the perpetrators to justice.
The tragic incident has further escalated deep anxieties regarding the rising wave of insecurity across Edu and neighboring border communities, where local stakeholders have repeatedly implored the government to intensify tactical security operations against criminal networks operating along the Kwara North axis.
