Eko Hot Blog reports that the suspect, who lived with his parents and the victim in Ado-Ekiti, had reportedly been planning the ritual for some time.
According to Abutu, Fabiyi confessed to the crime and had already been arraigned in court. “He was arrested by our operatives on Friday, 14th February 2025, at about 19:00hrs through a tip-off while he was on the verge of using his nephew for money ritual,” he said.
A viral video circulating on social media showed Fabiyi admitting that a local herbalist had instructed him to find someone for the ritual. The herbalist allegedly assured him that the child would not die but would suffer from an illness as part of the process.
In a surprising turn of events, the same herbalist who advised Fabiyi on the ritual reported him to the police when he brought the child. This led to Fabiyi’s swift arrest.
