High Chief Ariyo Osu, the Baale of Mafowoku Community in the Ladi-Lak/Bariga area of Lagos State, has urgently called on Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu to intervene and resolve issues surrounding a canal drainage project that has become an eyesore and a burden on local residents, Eko Hot Blog reports.
The canal, which is meant to channel water through Mafowoku and Charlieboy areas, has been plagued with stagnation, garbage, and flooding during the rainy season.

Expressing deep concern for the community’s welfare, the Baale has described the canal as “stagnant; it does not flow easily, causing it to overflow its level, thereby posing danger of flood during raining season.”
Through a statement released by his Personal Assistant, Mrs. Christie Adebayo, High Chief Osu appealed to Governor Sanwo-Olu, urging him to provide immediate assistance and address the ongoing problems caused by the mismanaged canal drainage system.

“Initially, the government had visited the Canal, ridding it of market stalls, shanties, evicted occupants of the illegal stalls located to the said Canal. We expected them to do regular routine supervision.”
