According to the agency, the woman was on her way to a church service at MFM Church, Igando, when a Mercedes-Benz C-300 veered into the designated pedestrian corridor and hit her. She sustained fatal injuries.
LASTMA operatives stationed along the Igando axis responded promptly after receiving distress calls. The officials secured the area, managed traffic flow, and activated emergency procedures to prevent further incidents.
The agency described the driver’s decision to flee the scene as a serious violation of legal and civic responsibility. The vehicle involved in the crash was later recovered through a joint operation involving LASTMA officials and officers of the Nigeria Police Force, Igando Division, which helped restore normal traffic in the area.
The statement noted that the deceased’s husband was already at the church service when news of the accident reached him. He and other church members reportedly proceeded to the scene, after which the remains were conveyed for necessary rites.
Police authorities have commenced investigations to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the crash and to take appropriate legal action against the fleeing driver in line with traffic and criminal laws.

Reacting to the development, LASTMA General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, expressed condolences to the bereaved family and the church community. He described the incident as a tragic reminder of the consequences of traffic violations and urged motorists to obey speed limits and respect pedestrian rights at all times.
