The Member representing Epe Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Rep. Wale Raji (MHR), has expressed deep shock and sorrow over the tragic truck accident that occurred on Monday night along Hospital Road Hill, Epe, which claimed the lives of innocent worshippers and left several others critically injured.
Eko Hot Blog reports that in a condolence message issued on Tuesday, Rep. Raji described the incident as heartbreaking and a painful loss not only to the affected families but to the entire Epe community.
He noted that the tragedy has cast a dark shadow over the town, which is still grappling with the aftermath of the devastating crash.
According to him, “I received with immense shock and deep sadness the distressing news of the fatal truck accident that occurred last night at Hospital Road Hill, Epe.”
He extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families on behalf of the people of Epe Federal Constituency, while offering prayers for the repose of the souls of the departed and quick recovery for those injured.
Rep. Raji also used the occasion to issue a strong warning to operators of heavy-duty vehicles, particularly sand truck drivers, stressing the importance of ensuring that vehicles are roadworthy before being put on the road.
He emphasized that adherence to speed limits, proper vehicle maintenance, and respect for other road users are responsibilities that must not be ignored.
Describing human life as sacred, the lawmaker stated that negligence and avoidable recklessness must not be allowed to continue costing lives.
He therefore called on relevant authorities, transport unions, and regulatory agencies to intensify safety inspections and enforce compliance with road safety regulations to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
While acknowledging the grief currently enveloping Epe, Rep. Raji urged residents and stakeholders to turn the painful moment into a renewed commitment to protecting lives and ensuring safer roads across the constituency.
He prayed for divine comfort for the bereaved families and the entire community, expressing hope that lessons would be learned from the tragedy to avert future loss of lives.
