How the Premier League Could Secure Seven Spots in Next Season’s Champions League

- EPL Could Have Seven Teams in Next Season’s Champions League
- Extra Slot Opportunity: UEFA may award the Premier League an additional Champions League spot based on club performances in European competitions.
- Top Five Access: The top five EPL teams could qualify directly for the 2025/26 Champions League.
- European Winners Boost: Champions League and Europa League winners will also qualify if they finish outside the top five.
The English Premier League (EPL) might have up to seven teams playing in the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League.
Usually, only the top four teams in the league qualify for the Champions League. However, under new UEFA rules, the fifth-placed team could also get a spot. This means if the Premier League performs well in all European competitions this season, they could get an extra place.

In addition to the top five teams, two more clubs could qualify if they win either the Champions League or the Europa League—as long as they finish outside the top five in the EPL.
UEFA has decided to give two European leagues an extra slot in the 2025/26 Champions League. This decision will be based on how well clubs from each league perform in UEFA tournaments during the 2024/25 season.
If English clubs perform better than others in competitions like the Champions League, Europa League, and Europa Conference League, the Premier League will earn this bonus position.
As of now, the top five teams in the Premier League are:
1. Liverpool
2. Arsenal
3. Nottingham Forest
4. Chelsea
5. Manchester City
If the season ended today, all five of these teams could play in next season’s Champions League. If an English club wins the Champions League or Europa League and finishes outside the top five, they would also qualify—bringing the total to seven EPL teams.
