Popular Nigerian actor and content creator Yemi Elesho recently revealed a heartwarming memory from his undergraduate days at Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that Speaking with streamer Jigan, Elesho recounted how his friendship with Grammy-nominated artist Ahmed Ololade, popularly known as Asake, began on campus.

“I used to give Asake a ₦700 plate of rice and a bottle of Coca-Cola as performance fees for him to feature in movies during our undergraduate days at OAU,” he said. He fondly described Asake as his “day-one” friend, sharing that they not only worked together on films and skits but also played celebrity football matches, cherishing the many photos and videos they captured from those times.
In a separate account, Nigerian singer Teniola Apata, widely known as Teni, shared a humorous yet relatable story about battling malaria. Despite being down with the illness for two weeks, Teni pushed through to perform at a music event in Ondo State.
In a video posted on her Instagram on March 5, 2025, she joked about her predicament, saying she almost wanted her mother to wake her late father from his resting place to come to her aid because she had lost her appetite.
Reflecting on her performance, Teni recalled singing “Uyo Meyo” and lamented, “Ohun toju mi ti ri ah,” noting that her eyes hadn’t seen anything because of the malaria.

She added humorously, “Ah, e no go better for all the mosquitoes wey dey for Ikate. I dey tell you. Oba, you need to find something to do about the mosquitoes in Ikate because malaria had me down.” Even as she described feeling as weak as a turkey with a drooping neck, Teni emphasized that she had to perform because she needed the income.
