“This enumeration is not meant to punish anyone but to protect our communities, promote accountability, and ensure that commercial transport operators are properly identified and regulated,” he stated.
The exercise requires all operators to register, obtain official identification stickers, and comply with approved uniforms and operational guidelines.
According to the Chairman, the initiative is designed to curb criminal activities linked to unregulated transport operations while fostering a more orderly and secure environment for residents and road users.
During the exercise, the Chief of Staff to the Executive Chairman, Mr. Issa Maruf Olayinka, urged Okada and tricycle operators to cooperate fully with enumeration officials, assuring them of fairness and institutional support for all compliant riders.
“We assure all law-abiding operators of fair treatment and support. Full cooperation with the enumeration teams will help us achieve a safer and more organized Ibeju-Lekki,” he said.
Residents were also encouraged to support the initiative by reporting any suspicious activities to local security outfits or relevant authorities, as the local government continues to prioritize community-driven security efforts.
The enumeration and registration exercise remains ongoing and is expected to extend to additional communities in the coming days.
