Ijaw Youths, Christian Women Celebrate Wike’s Re-election

Bayelsa Ijaw Youths in Rivers State have congratulated Governor Nyesom Wike on his re-election, stressing that his support for former President Goodluck Jonathan during his trying days endeared him to the group. Similarly, thousands of Rivers Christian women took to the streets of Port Harcourt to celebrate Wike’s victory, which they described as an “act of God”.

The Ijaw youths, who went to Government House, Port Harcourt, in a procession, noted that they overwhelmingly voted for Wike because of his outstanding projects delivery.

Leader of the Bayelsa Youths, Rivers State Chapter, Larry Ambaka said Ijaw youths gave the governor massive support because they know that he will execute more projects in his second term.

“We the Ijaw youths are here to congratulate Wike. We want him to help more Ijaw youths during his second term.

“Rivers youths gave him massive support. So, he should reward the masses with more projects,” he said.

Also speaking, the spokesman of Bayelsa Youths, Rivers State chapter, Robinson Agoke, said Ijaw youths voted for Wike because of his capacity to further develop Rivers which is the capital of the Niger Delta region.

He said: “We expect Wike to further develop Rivers State because this is the capital of the Niger Delta region. Once Rivers State enjoys stable development, it will trickle down to other states of the region.

“Now that he has been re-elected, Governor Wike should focus on development. He should forgive and forget whoever fought his re-election.” He urged the governor to run an inclusive government, and to take steps to compensate families of those who lost their lives defending Rivers mandate.

The women, who celebrated under the aegis of “Rivers Women Prayer Network,” converged on Aggrey Road in Port Harcourt where they offered praises to God for delivering the state from the evil machinations of anti-Rivers politicians.

The women knelt down to offer thanks to God for the governor’s victory before marching from Aggrey Road through to Government House Port Harcourt before they ended it at the Rivers State Ecumenical Centre where they prayed for protection, peace and development in the state.

Their leader, Mrs Help-Mate Ene Secondus, said Rivers women asked God for the re-election of Wike and he answered their prayers.

She said: “We asked God for the re-election of Wike and God gave us victory. We vowed during our prayer sessions that once God answers our prayers, we shall hit the roads of Port Harcourt to praise God.

“This is a victory made by God for Rivers State. Rivers State is not owned by Wike or Amaechi. It is owned by God. In the year of jubilee, Rivers women fasted for 50 days and handed over the state to God. The enemy has no choice but to quit Rivers State. God has given us victory through the successful emergence of Governor Wike.”

While saying Wike has operated like a Christian leader, she said: “This is a 100 per cent Christian State and it is also a 100 percent PDP State. That is why Christian Women have gathered to celebrate the victory given to us by God.

“This victory will be made permanent by God and nobody can change it. Because this victory not from any man, let all Rivers people join Governor Wike to develop Rivers State.”
