In a landmark move to strengthen governance and improve public administration, Otunba-Akogun Wale Raji Anomo, the Executive Chairman of Ikosi-Ejinrin Local Council Development Area (LCDA), has officially signed the Ikosi-Ejinrin Byelaw into law.
Ekohotblog reports that the byelaw, which underwent extensive deliberations, including a public hearing in August 2024, aims to regulate key aspects of community life, including sanitation, transportation, revenue generation, and market operations.

It also introduces measures to enhance discipline among students and ensure orderly business activities.
Speaking at the signing event, Anomo praised the 5th Legislative House for their dedication to enacting laws that reflect the aspirations of the people.
“This byelaw is a testament to our commitment to building a structured, law-abiding, and progressive society,” Anomo stated.
“I commend the lawmakers for their diligence and the stakeholders for their active participation in shaping policies that will benefit all residents.”
The newly enacted byelaw includes provisions on:
Sanitation and Environmental Law – Ensuring improved waste management and environmental cleanliness.
Revenue Items, Levies, Fees, and Rates – Strengthening internally generated revenue for community development.
Regulation of Motorcycles and Tricycles – Enhancing transport safety and order.
Public Gatherings and Road Usage – Managing entertainment activities and road closures for better security.
Market Regulation – Implementing structured guidelines for commercial activities.
Parking Permits and Setbacks – Addressing traffic congestion and land use planning.
Street Naming – Standardizing street identification for improved urban organization.
Regulation of Car Wash Operations – Enforcing compliance with environmental and safety standards.
Prohibition of School Pupils Loitering During School Hours – Enhancing discipline and academic focus.
The Leader of the House, Hon. Hassan Mustapha Owolabi, emphasized the council’s commitment to enacting policies that foster economic growth, social welfare, and infrastructural development.
“We ensured that this byelaw meets the highest legal and social standards,” Owolabi remarked.
“It is designed to promote order, economic prosperity, and environmental sustainability within Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA.”
