EKO HOT BLOG reports that the demand follows the Governor’s recent invitation to a breakfast meeting with 27 pro-Wike lawmakers at Government House on Monday—a move that Rivers APC Chairman Tony Okocha has sharply condemned as nothing short of a “Greek Gift.”
In his address, Okocha recalled past incidents in which Governor Fubara showed disrespect toward President Ahmed Tinubu, particularly after the President’s intervention during the crisis of 2023. He further accused the Governor of flagrantly disregarding Supreme Court rulings, asserting that legal judgments are final and binding.
“The only option available to the Governor now is for him to resign or be impeached,” Okocha declared, emphasizing that no remedy exists for what he described as an overdue and unlawful maneuver.
When pressed by journalists about the controversial invitation, Okocha elaborated: “My response to the Greek gift the Governor is extending to the lawmakers is that it falls outside the ambit of the law and is already belated.
“It is sheer folly that led a small bird to challenge its deity—resulting in chaos. We have consistently warned the Governor that by bringing insect-infested firewood to his home, he is essentially inviting lizards to a feast.”

Further details on this developing political standoff are awaited as the situation continues to evolve.
