A Thirty-year-old woman in Zimbabwe identified as Maurina Musisinyana has used her free hand to save her son from the jaws of a deadly crocodile by putting her fingers in the reptile’s nostrils.
The three-year-old boy sustained injuries to his face that made it difficult for him to breathe. Both were rushed to the hospital.
Mrs. Musisinyana was bitten by the crocodile after putting her fingers in its nostrils to save her son.
The woman who hailed from Chihosi Village, Chiredzi was fishing in the Runde River near Gonarezhou National Park
Musisinyana’s two sons played in the shadow of the banks of the Runde River near Gonarezhou National Park in the Southeast Country when she heard a scream.
Information gathered revealed she was fishing, then watched in horror as little Gideon was caught by the reptile and dragged to the water’s edge.
She reportedly had learned from her elders to squeeze the crocodile’s nose hard because a choked crocodile loses its strength,
and used her other arm to take her son’s head off jaw, and waved away to the safety of the water.
Mrs Musisinyana told ZBC News, “Even to this day, I still don’t believe I saved my son.”
Dr Misheck Chibwe said the boy responded well to medication.

According to a media report, the incident is one of many in the East and South of Chiredzi, where people died while fishing or crossing the crocodile-infested Runde River.
It is estimated that two hundred people die in the jaws of a Nile crocodile every year. The Runde River in Eastern Zimbabwe is known for being populated by crocodiles!
The Runde River is populated by Nile crocodiles known as vicious man-eaters, according to National Geographic.
It mainly eats fish, but “will attack almost anything unfortunate enough to cross its path,” including zebras, little hippos, and other crocodiles.
On average, they grow 16 feet (ca. 5 m) and 500 pounds (0.23 ton). However, they can reach 20 feet and 1,650 pounds. It can eat up to half bodyweight at once.
Last year, an eleven-year-old schoolgirl, Rebecca Munkombwein rescued her nine-year-old friend, Latoya Muwani from the big crocodile by jumping on its back and stuck out its eyes until it released its grip.
Latoya was reportedly attacked while swimming with friends in Sinderela Village.
Rebecca stepped into the stream herself when she heard a cry for help out of the water.
