EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Chairman of INEC, Professor Joash Amupitan, made the disclosure on Tuesday while delivering his opening remarks at the Second Quarterly Consultative Meeting with leaders of political parties held at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja.
According to Amupitan, the access codes will enable political parties to upload the names and particulars of candidates nominated to contest various elective positions in the 2027 general elections.
He explained that the nomination portal is fully automated and warned political parties against waiting until the last minute to complete the process.
The INEC chairman stressed that the portal would automatically close at the expiration of the prescribed deadline, adding that no extension would be granted under any circumstance.
Amupitan therefore urged political parties to ensure that their ICT personnel and relevant officials are adequately prepared to use the platform and meet all submission timelines.
### INEC Urges Support for Voter Registration
The electoral commission also called on political parties to intensify voter education and mobilisation efforts in support of the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.
Amupitan encouraged eligible Nigerians who have attained the age of 18 to register and participate in the electoral process.
He also urged voters seeking transfers, corrections of personal information, or replacement of voter records to take advantage of the registration exercise and ensure they collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
### Concern Over Internal Party Disputes
The INEC chairman further expressed concern over the growing number of court cases involving the leadership and internal affairs of some political parties.
He described the litigation as an unnecessary distraction capable of affecting the smooth conduct of electoral activities ahead of the 2027 polls.

Amupitan urged political parties to resolve their internal disputes amicably and focus on strengthening their structures as preparations for the next general election gather momentum.
