President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday inaugurated the new zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Ado-Ekiti, commending the anti-graft agency for its achievements in the fight against corruption and financial crimes, Eko Hot Blog reports.
Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, the President described the EFCC as a critical institution in Nigeria’s economic and national security architecture, noting that its recent successes have strengthened public confidence in the anti-corruption campaign.

Tinubu said the commission’s prosecution of several high-profile corruption cases, including the conviction of a former minister and a former managing director of a national investment bank, demonstrated that no individual was above the law.
“The EFCC’s recent prosecution of several high-profile corruption cases sends a clear message that there are no hiding places for the corrupt,” he said.
The President also highlighted the agency’s role in combating cybercrime and financial fraud, citing the dismantling of a foreign-controlled cryptocurrency syndicate in Lagos that led to the conviction of 192 foreigners.
According to him, the commission’s efforts contributed to Nigeria’s removal from the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) grey list and strengthened investor confidence in the country’s economy.
Tinubu further noted that assets recovered by the EFCC had supported key government intervention programmes, including the Student Loan Scheme and the Credit Corporation initiative.

Speaking at the event, Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, said the state government provided the land for the EFCC facility as part of its commitment to transparency, accountability and support for anti-corruption efforts.
He added that the state also donated a 220KVA standby generator to ensure uninterrupted power supply at the facility.
“The office will improve access to justice for victims of financial crimes who previously had to travel long distances to pursue their cases,” Oyebanji said.
EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, expressed appreciation to President Tinubu and the Ekiti State Government for their support, describing the new office as a major step toward strengthening the commission’s operations in Ondo and Ekiti states.
According to him, the facility will close existing operational gaps and bring EFCC services closer to residents of both states.
“This office is an assurance that the EFCC is fully on ground in this zone. Fraudsters will have no hiding place here,” Olukoyede said.
He stressed that the commission would intensify its fight against cybercrime, illegal mining and other economic crimes threatening the nation’s development.
The EFCC chairman also revealed that recovered assets had been deployed to support several national institutions and social intervention programmes, including the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), the Nigerian Railway System (NRS), the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON), the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), the Student Loan Scheme and the Consumer Credit Scheme.
Olukoyede, however, acknowledged that challenges remained in the fight against corruption and urged residents of Ondo and Ekiti states to support the commission through information sharing and active collaboration.
He maintained that public support remained essential to winning the anti-corruption battle.
The inauguration attracted several dignitaries, including Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Anti-Corruption and Financial Crimes Senator Emmanuel Udende, former Ekiti State Governor Segun Oni, Ekiti State Chief Judge Justice Lekan Ogunmoye and Chief of Defence Staff General Olufemi Oluyede.
