JUST IN: Again, INEC Rejects Petition to Recall Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan

• INEC announced on its official Facebook page that the controversial petition did not meet the provisions outlined in Section 69(a) of the 1999 Constitution
• INEC previously stated that the petition lacked essential contact details and other crucial elements. 
• The electoral commission, the petition failed to adhere to constitutional requirements, thus rendering it invalid. 

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially rejected the petition seeking the recall of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, from the Red Chamber.

INEC announced on its official Facebook page that the controversial petition did not meet the provisions outlined in Section 69(a) of the 1999 Constitution.

According to the electoral commission, the petition failed to adhere to constitutional requirements, thus rendering it invalid.

“The petition for the recall of the Senator representing the Kogi Central Senatorial District has not met the requirement of Section 69(a) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended).”

Recall that INEC officially rejected the rectified petition seeking the recall of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, the electoral body cited  that it still did not meet the necessary requirements for further processing.

Despite the petitioners’ efforts to rectify the document, INEC maintained its stance on the issue and has dismissed the petition.

INEC previously stated that the petition lacked essential contact details and other crucial elements.
