JUST IN: Report Of Sanwo-Olu Relaxing Lockdown Order For Easter Is False – Akosile
The Chief Press Secretary, (CPS) to Lagos State Governor, Gboyega Akosile has debunked claims that Babajide Sanwo-Olu relaxed the state’s lockdown order for Easter celebrations.
Several online publication had earlier published the news, claiming the Governor directed that Lagosians should be allowed between the hours of 8am and 4am on Friday to enable them shop for the Easter celebrations.
The report said, “This was in response to the several calls put to him by both Christian and Muslim faithful to carry out their spiritual responsibilities to God from Friday through Sunday, this week, as God plans to cleanse the land of all forms of illnesses including the ravaging Coronavirus.”
In his reaction, Akosile described such report (s) as fake news, urged Lagosians to ignore
Akosile said “The lockdown order was made by the Federal Government, and the state government was carried along. The Governor will not unilaterally relax the restrictions of movement. The purveyors of the fake news are mischief makers who are only interested in undermining the efforts of the state government to combat and curtail the coronavirus disease. Lagosians should be wary of fake news at this time,”.
Recall on March 29, the Federal Government ordered a total lockdown for residents of Lagos, Abuja and Ogun States to curb the spread of COVID-19.
President Muhammadu Buhari made the announcement during a broadcast.
