Juventus Sack Thiago Motta, Appoint Igor Tudor as New Manager

Juventus have parted ways with head coach Thiago Motta after just nine months at the helm, appointing Croatian Igor Tudor as his replacement.

Motta, 42, exits with the club sitting fifth in Serie A, just one point outside the Champions League qualification spots. His tenure ended following a 3-0 loss to Fiorentina last weekend, which came on the heels of a heavy 4-0 home defeat to Atalanta.

Under his leadership, Juventus also crashed out of the Champions League play-off round against PSV Eindhoven and failed to defend their Coppa Italia title.

Tudor, 46, is a familiar face in Turin, having made over 150 appearances for Juventus between 1998 and 2007 as a player. Since beginning his coaching career with Hajduk Split in 2013, he has managed clubs including Galatasaray, Udinese, Verona, and Marseille.

His most recent stint was a brief three-month spell with Lazio at the end of last season. Tudor will take charge of his first game on Saturday when Juventus host Genoa in Serie A.
