Kamala Harris Unveils Plan to Relax Federal Job Requirements
US Vice President Kamala Harris has announced her plan to eliminate college degree requirements for certain federal jobs if she becomes president.
Harris emphasized the value of alternative paths to success, such as apprenticeships and technical programs, and acknowledged that a degree does not always reflect a person’s skills.
Harris stated, “As president, I will get rid of the unnecessary degree requirements for federal jobs to increase jobs for folks without a four-year degree.”
She also challenged the private sector to follow suit.
Harris’ speech in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, was briefly interrupted by protesters opposing US support for Israel’s war in Gaza.

She reiterated her support for a ceasefire and hostage rescue deal, saying, “Now is the time to get a hostage deal and ceasefire.”
This pledge is part of Harris’ economic plan, which aims to appeal to voters.
She has also promised to pass a middle-class tax cut, while her opponent, Donald Trump, has advocated for cutting taxes on overtime pay.
The move is seen as an effort to attract voters who may not have a college degree, a demographic that has been a key focus for both candidates.
With the election just around the corner, Harris is working to secure her position in a tight race.
