Kogi Banks Robbery: Policeman, Security Guard Killed
Eko Hot Blog reports that fresh information that emerged about the recent bank robbery in Kogi State last Thursday indicated that a police officer and a security guard lost their lives in a shootout with the armed robbers.

The disclosure came after the state Commissioner of Police, Bernard Onuoha, visited the crime scene in Ayingba last Friday.
According to PUNCH online, there was an assault on two banks around 5 pm the previous Thursday, accompanied by sporadic gunshots.
A witness reported that a group of armed robbers, consisting of more than a dozen individuals, invaded the town with the aim of executing a significant robbery targeting multiple banks in the vicinity.
On Friday, the state police command issued a statement confirming the police commissioner’s visit. In the statement, he condemned the attack and deployed tactical teams to restore normalcy.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, SP William Aya, explained that the Deputy Commissioner, Criminal Investigation Department has been directed to commence investigation into the incident with a view to bringing the perpetrators to deserved justice.
The police statement read, “Consequent upon the Ayingba banks robbery as well as the attacks on police stations on Thursday 7/3/2024, the Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Police Command, CP Bethrand C. Onuoha, today, 08/03/2024 visited the scenes for on-the-spot assessment, and vowed that the hoodlums will be apprehended.
“He equally ordered the deployment of tactical teams comprising PMF Personnel, Counter Terrorism, Quick Response and Intelligence Units in synergy with other security agencies to restore normalcy in the area.
“Meanwhile, one police constable paid the supreme price during the exchange of fire with the hoodlums, before the arrival of the reinforced team to the scenes and the attackers fled,.”
The Police Commissioner affirmed the command’s dedication to collaborating with other security agencies and patriotic stakeholders to ensure the safety and security of everyone in Kogi State.
