Lagos APC Confirms 37 LCDAs to Participate in 2025 Local Government Polls

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially announced that the upcoming local government elections scheduled for 2025 will be held across all 20 Local Government Councils and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in the state.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that this announcement was made through a press release by Lagos State APC Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, aims to put to rest ongoing speculations and debates surrounding the inclusion of LCDAs in the electoral process.

The statement emphasized the significant role that LCDAs have played in grassroots development and their importance in promoting socio-economic and political growth across Lagos State.
Since their establishment, LCDAs have contributed to the development of infrastructure and social amenities, fostering improvements in primary education, healthcare delivery, and waste management, among other critical areas.
Highlighting the invaluable contributions of the LCDAs, Pastor Ojelabi cited numerous successful projects such as the construction of roads, drainages, markets, schools, and housing.
In addition, LCDAs have actively collaborated with the state government to address pressing issues like drain clearing and security enhancement.
The APC Chairman noted the recent public discourse surrounding the desirability and relevance of LCDAs, as well as questions about their participation in local government elections.
He described the debates as “needless and distractive speculation” and reassured Lagosians that elections would proceed in both Local Government Councils and LCDAs.
“We hope this release will put paid to further speculations as regards the local government elections in order not to unnecessarily heat up the polity,” Pastor Ojelabi stated.
Pastor Ojelabi further called on APC members and Lagos residents to maintain peace and unity as the state prepares for the elections.
