The Lagos State House of Assembly has adopted the recommendations of the Committee on Physical Planning and E-GIS regarding the Geographic Information Service Bill.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the recommendations were on “A Bill for a Law to Establish the Lagos Geographic Information Service, for the Harmonisation of all Geographic Information Service Projects, to Provide a Computerised Central Database and Base Map Integrated Software for all Land Related Records and other Connected Matters.”

The bill aims to centralize geographic information projects and establish a computerized database for land-related records, ensuring reliable services for all stakeholders.
On March 5, 2024, the House deliberated on the bill and referred it to the Committee on Physical Planning and E-GIS for further legislative review.
A public hearing was held, allowing stakeholders to provide input on the proposed legislation.
The committee chairman, Ogunkelu Oluwadahunsi, emphasized the importance of the bill in integrating governance with technological advancements.
