The Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development has commended the remarkable developmental strides of the Executive Chairman of Epe Local Government, Hon. Princess Surah Olayemi Animashaun, FHTI, describing her administration as a model of visionary leadership and purposeful grassroots governance.

Eko Hot Blog reports that the commendation came during the committee’s official oversight visit to Epe Local Government on Friday, where members inspected several completed and ongoing projects executed by the council.
The delegation, led by the Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Sanni Ganiyu Okanlawon, included Hon. Oladele Ajayi, Hon. Samuel Apata, Hon. Olusegun Adebisi (Ege), Hon. Surajudeen Tijani (Emir), Hon. Wale Yusuf, Hon. Stephen Ogundipe, Hon. Adebola Rasheed (Shabi), and Hon. Jubril Abdulkareem.
The lawmakers were received by Hon. Princess Surah Animashaun alongside members of the Executive Council, the Legislative Arm and the council’s management team before embarking on an inspection tour of key legacy projects.
One of the major highlights of the visit was the inspection of the Epe City Museum Centre, which members of the committee described as a landmark achievement in cultural preservation, tourism and education.
“We are impressed by what we have seen. Epe is home to the only world-class Local Government Museum Centre in Lagos State, and this is a legacy project that will preserve history, promote tourism and educate future generations,” Hon. Okanlawon said.
The committee also visited the council’s ultra-modern ICT Centre and the Lofty Luxury Apartments, applauding the projects for promoting digital innovation, improving staff welfare and supporting sustainable development.
Addressing the lawmakers during the interactive session, Hon. Princess Surah Animashaun presented a comprehensive account of her administration’s achievements across infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture, tourism, environmental sustainability, security, youth and women empowerment, staff welfare and digital transformation.
She attributed the successes recorded by her administration to the support of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Lagos State Governor Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu.
“We remain committed to delivering people-centred projects that improve the lives of our residents. The support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu through the Renewed Hope Agenda and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s commitment to strengthening local governments has enabled us to continue implementing impactful developmental projects,” she said.
The oversight team also inspected the Vocational Training Centre and the Ultra-Modern Multi-Purpose Hall, describing both projects as strategic investments capable of enhancing skills acquisition, youth development and economic empowerment.
Speaking on behalf of the committee, Hon. Okanlawon praised the council chairman for her prudent management of public resources and her commitment to sustainable development.
“The quality of projects we have inspected reflects transparency, accountability and good governance. The Museum Centre, ICT Hub and other legacy projects have positioned Epe among the most progressive local governments in Lagos State,” he stated.
Other members of the committee also commended the administration for maintaining high standards in project execution and encouraged the chairman to sustain the pace of development across the local government.
The lawmakers reaffirmed the Lagos State House of Assembly’s commitment to supporting local governments through effective legislative oversight while promoting transparency, accountability and sustainable grassroots development.
The oversight visit concluded with members of the committee describing Epe Local Government as a shining example of transformational leadership, innovation and responsible governance, expressing confidence that the projects executed by the council would continue to benefit residents for generations.
