Lagos Begins Rehabilitation Works On Ikorodu Road — Issues Traffic Advisory

As part of its effort to ensure smooth vehicular activities and enhance productivity among residents, The Lagos State Government has released a traffic advisory that will enhance movement of motorists along Ikorodu Road.

The advisory is in light of the government immediate plan to commence the rehabilitation and construction works on the Ketu – Mile 12 section of the road.

The state government issue the advisories In a statement released by the State Commissioner for Transportation Dr. Frederic Oladeinde,

Oladehinde said the traffic advisory became imperative to enlighten motorists and other road users on measures that have been put to cushion the effects of the construction and rehabilitation works on them.

He added that tthe advisory is also geared towards imploring them to use of alternative roads during the period of the rehabilitation works.

“as part of traffic management strategies during the period of construction of Ketu – Mile 12 segment of Ikorodu road, Government has provided traffic diversion plans and alternative routes to ensure smooth traffic flow along the corridor”, he said.

He explained that Motorists coming from Ikorodu inward Ketu will from the exit of the Mile 12 Bridge be diverted to the rehabilitated service lane and the main carriage lanes on the other side of the counter flow up to Ile-Ilè Bus stop inward Ketu from 4am to 2pm daily.

Oladehinde said “Motorists going towards the 3rd Mainland Bridge are also advised to turn under the Bridge to Ajelogo inward Alapere and Ogudu. Another alternative route is through Ikosi road to link Toll Gate inward 3rd Mainland Bridge.

” For Ikorodu bound motorists approaching Owode Elede from Ketu, they will keep to the service lane from 4am while the normal flow of traffic would be maintained by 2pm daily”

Oladehinde noted that officials of Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and other relevant agencies  will be on ground to direct traffic to alternatives routes.

He urged members of the public to drive carefully as they approach Mile 12 and Kosofe axis as rehabilitation works on the Service lane is set to commence immediately.

The Commissioner hereby solicit the cooperation of motorists in obeying all traffic regulations laid down by the relevant traffic agencies to ensure free flow of traffic during the construction period.
