The Chief Judge of Lagos State, Hon. Justice Kazeem Olanrewaju Alogba, on Tuesday inaugurated the 2025 Local Government Election Petition Appeals Tribunal, tasked with hearing disputes arising from the recently conducted council polls.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the tribunal, chaired by Hon. Justice Yetunde Akinsaya, also has Hon. Justice Kafeel Dawodu, Hon. Justice Omotola Oguntade, Hon. Justice Yakubu Oshoala, and Hon.
Justice Omolade Awope as members. Its sittings will hold at the Rosaline Omotosho Court in Ikeja, Lagos.
Justice Alogba, while inaugurating the panel at the Ikeja High Court Conference Room, urged members to discharge their duties with diligence and impartiality.
“Your work is a sacred duty. Lagosians are looking up to you to uphold justice with integrity, fairness, and strict adherence to the law,” he stated.

He explained that the formation of the Appeals Tribunal followed the earlier inauguration of the Local Government Election Tribunal Panels in July, stressing the need for consistency and professionalism.
“The credibility of the electoral process is strengthened when disputes are resolved in line with the law and evidence,” Alogba added.
Also speaking, the Administrative Judge of the Lagos Division, Hon. Justice Olutoyin Ipaye, praised the calibre of members appointed to the tribunal.
“With your wealth of experience, we are confident you will deliver justice without fear or favour. We wish you every success in this important assignment,” she said.
The tribunal is expected to begin proceedings immediately, providing a platform for fair and transparent resolution of election-related grievances across the state.
