Ekohotblog reports that in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, on behalf of the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, the restriction will now take effect from 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM on election day, rather than the initially announced start time of 3:00 AM.

The decision, according to the Command, was made to accommodate residents with critical health emergencies and those with previously scheduled international travel arrangements.
“The restriction of vehicular movement is hereby readjusted to commence at 6:00 AM and end at 3:00 PM on Saturday, July 12, 2025, and not from 3:00 AM as earlier announced,” the statement read. “This adjustment is to alleviate the burden on residents who may have emergency needs or essential appointments on election day.”
The restriction will apply across all 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) of Lagos State.
The Commissioner of Police reaffirmed the Command’s dedication to maintaining law and order throughout the electoral process and called on Lagosians to cooperate with security personnel and electoral officials for a peaceful exercise.
“We are committed to ensuring a secure, safe, and orderly election. We urge everyone to remain calm, vigilant, and to cooperate fully with law enforcement agencies,” CP Jimoh stated.
The Command also encouraged members of the public to report any suspicious activity using the designated emergency contact numbers: 08063299264 and 08065154338.
“This election is not just about casting votes, but about upholding democratic values through peace and order,” CSP Hundeyin added.
Residents are reminded to plan their movements accordingly and abide by the temporary restrictions, which are necessary for the smooth conduct of the election.
