Lagos Science Ministry Seeks Info Input for New Portal

Ministry of Innovation, Science, and Technology (MIST) is collaborating with the Ministry of Information and Strategy for enhanced design and functionality.
During a visit to the Ministry of Information on Wednesday, Engr. (Mrs.) Ibilola Kasunmu, Permanent Secretary of MIST, emphasized the importance of the Lagos State Government website as a primary source of information for citizens.
She stressed the need for a dedicated team from the Information Ministry to collaborate with their Application Department to develop a fully integrated portal.
“We’re seeking support to prioritize MDAs and other organizations on the platform, given the Ministry’s key role in information management for Lagos State,” Kasunmu explained.
Mr. Akeem Hassan from MIST added that the project has been in motion for several months, with the team addressing key challenges such as streamlining workflows across various MDAs and enhancing the visual design of the website.
Tech Lead Consultant Mr. Setonji Avoseh highlighted that the team has made significant progress in simplifying access to state services through a user-friendly interface.

“We’ve categorized Lagos State Government services into 21 groups and incorporated familiar landmarks like Eko Bridge, BRT, Blue Line, Danfo, and Eyo on the homepage,” he noted.
“The portal will also feature news, public information, and profiles of the State Executive Council.”
In response, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Strategy, Mr. Olumide Sogunle, expressed gratitude for the visit and assured the MIST team of the Ministry’s full support.
Sogunle also recommended adding other iconic Lagos landmarks, such as the JK Randle Museum, to the homepage.
He encouraged further discussions with the Directors of Public Affairs and Social Media to ensure a successful outcome.
Both Ministries agreed on specific timelines for the project’s completion moving forward.
