The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) has officially announced that elections into the offices of Chairmen and Councillors across the 20 Local Governments and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in the state will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025.
Ekohotblog reports that in a public notice signed by the Chairman of the Commission, Hon. Justice Bola Okikiolu-Ighile (Rtd), the election will cover all 376 electoral wards in Lagos State. Polling will commence by 8:00 a.m. and close at 3:00 p.m.

“In accordance with Section 41(1) of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission Law, 2008 (as amended), notice is hereby given that elections shall be held on the 12th of July, 2025.”
The Commission also stated that voting shall take place at the polling units where voters are registered, and only those whose names appear on the Voters Register will be allowed to cast their ballots.

“We have made adequate preparations to ensure a free, fair, and credible election across the state. Security agencies have also been briefed to ensure the safety of voters, electoral officers, and election materials,” the Chairman said.
LASIEC further urged all eligible voters to participate actively in the election and appealed for peaceful conduct among political parties, candidates, and supporters during the entire process.
