Lagos State Judiciary Hosts Workshop on Small Claims Court

The Lagos State Judiciary recently organized a one-day training workshop aimed at improving access to justice for Magistrates, Registrars, and Sheriffs.

Honourable Chief Judge of Lagos State, Hon. Justice Kazeem Alogba, emphasized the importance of the Small Claims Court in providing affordable, efficient, and accessible dispute resolution, especially for individuals and small businesses dealing with minor monetary claims.

He noted that the Small Claims Court concept has its roots in the early 20th century when Harvard Law School Dean Roscoe Pound proposed the “People’s Court” to address the complexities and high costs of traditional legal processes.
