The Lagos State Government has held a stakeholders meeting with residents of Gbadamosi Street, Abijo, as rehabilitation works on the road are set to commence in the coming weeks.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the project, approved under the administration of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, will see Gbadamosi Street transformed into a modern single carriageway fitted with functional drainage systems and street lighting.
The intervention is designed to address persistent infrastructural challenges, improve mobility, enhance safety, and stimulate economic activities within the community.
The meeting brought together government officials, community leaders, and residents to outline the scope of work and encourage collaboration ahead of construction.
Delivering the welcome address on behalf of the Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, the Chief of Staff, Mr. Issa Maruf Olayinka, conveyed the Chairman’s appreciation to the Governor for prioritizing grassroots infrastructure.
He reaffirmed the local government’s readiness to provide full support to ensure the smooth execution of the project.
Representing the Governor, Engineer Soyombo from the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure provided technical insights into the rehabilitation plan.
According to him, the road will feature a single carriage lane supported by comprehensive drainage infrastructure to mitigate flooding, alongside modern street lighting to improve nighttime visibility and security.
Also speaking at the meeting, Hon. Mojeed Fatai Adebola, member representing Ibeju-Lekki Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly, urged residents to cooperate fully with contractors and relevant authorities.
He stressed that collective support would facilitate timely delivery and minimize disruptions during construction.
High Chief Rosulilahi Adewale Oluwa, Chairman of the Baale-in-Council, assured government representatives of the community’s maximum cooperation.
He pledged that traditional leaders and residents would work closely with stakeholders to guarantee the project’s success and sustainability.
The rehabilitation works will be executed by RHEMA Project BCEGI, a firm recognized for its expertise in infrastructural development.
The Gbadamosi Street project aligns with the Governor’s THEMES+ agenda, which prioritizes traffic management, urban renewal, and sustainable development across Lagos State.
The initiative further underscores the administration’s commitment to extending quality infrastructure to underserved communities.
Other dignitaries present included the Leader of the Legislative Council, Hon. Mojeed Oluwafemi Olayinka; Hon. Zainab Adebola Eletu, Councillor representing Ward E; the CDC Chairman, Comrade Adeboye Jabita; and other key stakeholders
